Rob’s Designations

Certified Financial Planner (CFP)

This is the top designation you can earn as a Financial Planner in Canada. It is granted by the Financial Planning Standards of Canada. It certifies that I continue to meet appropriate standards of competence and professionalism through rigorous requirements of education, experience and ethics. It means I can be counted on to provide you with clear written direction on your financial matters.

Chartered Investment Manager (CIM)

This is an Investment Advisor designation granted by the Canadian Securities Institute. It certifies that I have learned advanced money management strategies. It means I can show you the correct way you should be investing your money.

Registered Pension Associate (RPA)

The RPA designation is granted by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. It certifies that I can effectively design, invest and manage pension plans. It also means I can help you choose between pension options and whether to elect early CPP or not.

I have been a satisfied client for more than 10 years.  Before I began my investment relationship with Robbie K. Jacobi I had previously held my investments with one of the big banks and was continuously looking to establish a consistent long-term relationship with my assigned financial advisor.  I often felt that the advisors at the bank were simply a steady stream of young, inexperienced, upwardly mobile employees churning through a revolving door never in the position long enough to build a relationship that would address and champion my investment goals for retirement.

Two other members of my immediate family also ended up becoming clients after my positive experience in achieving my financial goals.

The family has also benefitted from Robbie's expertise with estates with his assistance in planning and closing estates.  With his aide we were able to close out two separate family estates smoothly in a timely manner minimizing the tax exposure.

An enlightened friend of mine once told me that the best people to work will always have a sparkle in their eye as a result of their passion for their vocation.  Robbie and his team all have that sparkle in their eyes as they work to help their clients realize their financial planning and retirement goals.

What I’ve learned

I spent the first 14 years of my career as a Pension Specialist at Great-West Life Assurance Company. My job was to acquire corporate pension clients working through pension consulting firms and benefits brokers.

I learned how to work with Actuaries and Portfolio Managers. I learned how pension funds invest their money and why individuals should do the same. I learned the inner workings of one of Canada’s largest life insurance companies and where it made its money. I learned what it meant to work for a member company of Power Financial, a Canadian financial power house, owner of Great-West Life, London Life, Canada Life, Investors Group, Mackenzie Investments and now Wealth Simple.

In 1999, I achieved my life long goal to become self-employed as a Certified Financial Planner; I incorporated Tenzing Pension & Investment Services Inc. to serve the corporate market. I started working with employees of these companies helping them plan for retirement.

I learned to keep financial plans simple. I learned how to get people the type of life insurance they need. I learned that some people really are better off doing it themselves.

Financial planning that actually makes sense.
